A directory earns a return visit only if it does something the apps do not. As of today it does three things.

Deals (/deals). Every UK lab we list runs codes, and voucher sites list dozens that are dead or for photo books. We now list only offers we have seen on the brand’s own site, with the date and the brand’s stated expiry. Expired codes drop off automatically; dead ones people still search for — Photobox’s 50FREE6X4 — are shown as dead so nobody types them into a basket. Today that is Snapfish PR926 (65% off 6x4s, ends 27 September), Max Spielmann APP10 for Tesco and ASDA prints, FreePrints’ PICKUP collection codes, and the always-on bulk discounts. Live codes also appear as an extra line in the price comparison.

Planner (/free-prints-planner). Type how many photos you have. It splits them across FreePrints (45) and the Snapfish app (50), adds the two postages, prices the leftovers at every lab with the free credits switched off, and — the useful part — prices the whole pile at the cheapest paid lab so you can see when the apps are the wrong tool. At 600 photos, Tesco’s 9p rate with a single free collect beats seven months of packets.

Crop checker (/photo-crop-checker). The most common complaint about free prints is heads and feet missing. Phone photos are 4:3; a 6x4 is 3:2; 11% of the photo has to go. Pick a photo — it stays in your browser — and see the crop for every size from 5.3x4 to A4, plus the dots-per-inch after cropping so a WhatsApp-compressed photo is flagged before it is printed soft.

One price correction from the same check: Bonusprint’s print page now shows Photobox’s list exactly — 6x4 18p, 7x5 23p, 8x6 99p, £3.99 delivery, automatic 10–20% bulk discount — instead of the 20p/28p we recorded on Tuesday. The compare tool and listing are updated.
